British Airways Launching Low-Cost, Long-Haul Airline

British Airways Launching Low-Cost, Long-Haul Airlineā€

With the launch of Level, IAG will boast five main airline brands, including Aer Lingus, British Airways, Iberia and Vueling.

One-way flights range in price from 99 to 149 euros (about $105 - $160), with tickets now on sale at FlyLevel.com.

The two initial aircraft will be in a two-class configuration, with 21 premium economy and 293 economy seats.

International Airlines Group, the aviation company behind existing airlines Aer Lingus, British Airways, Iberia and Vueling, is starting a new, low-priced long-haul airline brand called Level, which will start in June with flights from Oakland International Airport to Barcelona in June.

Included in the price of a premium economy ticket is a checked bag, meals, seat selection, and "the latest" movie releases.

"Level is an exciting new IAG airline brand which will bring a stylish and modern approach to flying at prices that are even more affordable".

Will the Snowy Hydro scheme expansion actually happen?
Snowy Hydro already provided back-up energy to NSW and Victoria and could extend to South Australia when expanded, he said. These sites include new tunnels and power stations, connecting existing storages.

The addition of the new Level carrier comes as other European carriers like Eurowings and Norwegian Airlines announced plans to offer more low-priced flights to the United States, according to BBC.com.

LEVEL will initially be operated by Spanish airline Iberia - also owned by IAG - and after initial launch in Barcelona will look to expand its flights from other European cities. Its Barcelona-Oakland service will compete directly with Norwegian Air, which will launch that route on June 5.

As with other airlines that have introduced the concept, Level will offer those wanting to fly cheaply a basic fare, which can then be supplemented with additional purchases for things like food and entertainment.

He added: "This is just the start". Level passengers can earn and redeem miles on Avios, the so-called loyalty currency for IAG's airlines. Lufthansa agreed late past year to lease 40 aircraft from struggling competitor Air Berlin, with 35 of those planes to be put toward an expansion of its low-priced unit, Eurowings.

In a statement, IAG indicated definite plans for expansion to other European destinations in the near future.
