U.S. banker David Rockefeller dies at 101”

Former Chase Manhattan Chief Executive, billionaire David Rockefeller has died at the age of 101, "Armenpress" reports, citing RT.

The banker died peacefully in his sleep in his home in Pocantico Hills on Monday morning according to his spokesman Fraser P Seitel. Rockefeller also headed what is now JPMorgan Chase bank.

He was the grandson of oil magnate John D. Rockefeller, one of the founders of the Standard Oil Co., and the son of John D. Rockefeller Jr., developer of New York's famed Rockefeller Center.

Many members of his family were drawn more to politics than to business. His private art collection was once valued at $500m.

To mark his 100th birthday in 2015, he gave 1,000 acres of land next to a national park to Maine.

Rockefeller earned a degree from Harvard University in 1936 and did graduate work at the London School of Economics, where he met future President John F. Kennedy and dated his sister Kathleen. His wife, a conservationist, died in 1996.
