National Take Back Day scheduled for April 29”

Joint Township District Memorial Hospital along with other OH hospitals, is participating in National Drug Take-Back Day by sponsoring a prescription drug drop-off site for community members to safely dispose of unwanted prescription drugs.

In an effort to prevent prescription drug abuse, potentially unsafe, expired, unused and unwanted medications can be turned in for safe disposal.

All unused or expired medication can be brought to the lobby of the police station. With the addition of the Drug Take Back Box we hope to collect more throughout the year and also at the annual events.

The Take Back Day and Permanent Collection services are free.

".area law enforcement will be setting up collection points at the Rhinelander Police Department, the Minocqua Police Department, the Oneida County Landfill and the Three Lakes town hall to collect unused, unneeded prescription medications".

EAST HAMPTON On Saturday, April 29, the East Hampton Police Department and Local Prevention Council will be participating with the Drug Enforcement Agency, (DEA) in a nationwide Take-Back Initiative of pharmaceutical substances and other medications.

Last October, the public turned in 731,269 pounds-almost 366 tons-of medication to the DEA and more than 4,000 of its community partners at nearly 5,200 collection sites nationwide. The pouches can hold up to 25 pills and with a bit of water, can dissolve them and make it safe to throw them away in the trash.

"In 2016, I looked back at the stats from the DEA, and they said that over 80,000 pounds of prescription medications were turned back in to keep them off the streets in Missouri alone, and that ranks about 6th in the nation", added Dr. Jason Meisenheimer with Nevada Elks Lodge. "Prescription drug abuse is a growing problem in our state".
