Galaxy S8: More screen and elegance, but a hefty price tag

Galaxy S8: More screen and elegance, but a hefty price tag”

With the Note7 debacle barely behind it, Samsung needs to deal with this issue swiftly and firmly, so as not to let it affect upcoming sales of the Galaxy S8.

So, the Korean electronics giant developed the Deep Red technology to strengthen the red color. Also worth mentioning: the voice assistant Bixby is still half-baked and complaints are percolating up over red-tinted screens on some phones already out in South Korea.

In, perhaps, one of biggest recalls in the history of smartphones, Samsung had asked about 2.5 million Galaxy Note 7 users to return their devices last September, hinting at a possible battery problem, following numerous reports that the phones caught fire.

In fact, Samsung has confirmed this.

Since the quick fix did not satisfy some users due to the pre-optimised display panels in the phones, owners of the new phones are left puzzled.

The reissued order Monday clarifies that three of the seven justices would have denied the request for a stay for Bruce Earl Ward. The state Supreme Court issued a stay for another of the inmates on Friday so that his mental health could be assessed.

Some S8 users in Korea have been complaining of a reddish tint showing up on their phone's display and expressing their ire in online communities, as the issue seems to persist even after correcting the display's colour settings. The company also faced supply shortages previous year when it sold the Galaxy Note 7, resulting in delayed shipments.

A spokesman told The Korean Herald that the tint isn't a quality issue and that it can be fixed in the phone's settings menu.

What's more, in a world where everything is going the way of the touchscreen, a dedicated button shows just how committed Samsung is to its digital assistant.

When pressing the Bixby button, the system generates a key up and down event, xda-developers explains.

In an over-the-air update, Samsung has blocked the use of the button for anything other than Bixby. Bixby, for those unfamiliar, is Samsung's new alternative to Siri and Google Assistant, though users shouldn't expect it to be fully functional upon the handset's launch. Samsung has seen stronger pre-orders for the Galaxy S8 than it did for the S7 and S7 Edge previous year. Samsung needs to enhance the capabilities of its AI assistant if it wants to catch up with rivals. Though the two smartphones will be up for pre-orders at 12 noon on April 19, 2017.
