Tip-in by Ryan lifts Senators over Bruins 4-3 in overtime

Tip-in by Ryan lifts Senators over Bruins 4-3 in overtimeā€

"There's probably a lot more words, but they called it", coach Bruce Cassidy said of the overtime penalty to Nash.

Bobby Ryan tipped home a pass from Kyle Turris for a power-play goal 5:43 into overtime, giving the Ottawa Senators a 4-3 victory over the Boston Bruins on Monday night and a 2-1 lead in the first-round Eastern Conference playoff series.

"After playing all 82 games you miss at least the first two games of the playoffs was disappointing, frustrating, but you have to work hard to get back at it and we've been doing that", he said.

In overtime, on a night where the whistles were essentially put away late, Ottawa got a gift power play as the officials somehow seemed fit to call Riley Nash with the retaliation after a play where Ryan could have easily been whistled as well with coincidental minors, or even Ryan going off solo. In this case, the officials penalized the retaliation.

Anderson stopped all nine shots Boston sent his way in the third and Rask brushed aside seven to send the game to overtime. It was Karlsson's second assist of the game.

"When he raised his arms I think the whole city did at the same time", Senators coach Guy Boucher said.

Defenceman Marc Methot isn't letting the Ottawa Senators' Game 2 win against the Boston Bruins get to his head.

"Just because of the length of time it took to get that one", he said.

"Well, uh, Sully #2, you see, I got wicked pissed aftah a Bruins playoff game and made a decision to be a jerk and just swipe it from a losah Senatahs playah".

When the game ended, Bruins fans, irate over the penalty call, littered the ice with debris. The Bruins will be hoping that he can translate that experience to play a responsible game in the National Hockey League; he doesn't need to do more than that to help the team Monday. Wishing for injuries is poor sportsmanship, we want to see the best play the best.

Kim Kardashian West on Kanye's hospitalization: 'This is being a wife'
The contented family pictures come several months after they were rocked by Kim being robbed and rapper Kanye being hospitalised. The youngest daughter of Kris and Caitlyn Jenner, Khloe , asked Kardashian if things will be okay, and the latter said yes.

That goal was rapidly followed by Derick Brassard's second goal in as many games.

ANAHEIM, Calif. (AP) - Ryan Getzlaf scored the tiebreaking power-play goal with 4:46 to play on a freakish deflection off Lance Bouma's skate, and Anaheim took a 2-0 lead in their first-round playoff series.

More importantly, they've held Brad Marchand, David Pastrnak and Patrice Bergeron to a combined two goals and five points (one of those goals coming on the power play).

Monday night's clash was a wild one, as Ottawa built a 3-0 lead by the four minute mark of the second period.

Karlsson's long pass was right to a breaking Hoffman, who deked and scored with one hand on his stick, slipping the puck just by Rask.

Defenseman John-Michael Liles had two assists for Boston, while defensemen Charlie McAvoy also had assists. Boston registered only one shot on goal over the final 16:18 of the first period.

You would've thought that Ottawa would have had the proverbial book on the 6-foot-1, right-shot defenseman after his stellar National Hockey League debut, but that didn't appear to be the case after Game 2.

The availability of both Colin Miller and Adam McQuaid may not be known until sometime Monday, possibly in the pregame skate.

"Monday night's going to be the same thing", Wideman said after Sunday's practice.

The first 10 minutes of the second period were pretty much the opposite of the first 10 minutes of the first period for Boston. During the same break, Patriots owner Robert Kraft and president Jonathan Kraft were on the big board, followed by Bruins great Bobby Orr.
