China, Russia send ships after U.S. aircraft carrier

The strike group, including the 97,000-ton carrier and its 60-plus aircraft, the guided-missile destroyers USS Wayne E. Meyer and USS Michael Murphy and the guided-missile cruiser USS Lake Champlain aircraft carrier, will arrive off the Korean Peninsula by the end of April, multiple United States defense officials told CNN.

Pacific Command announced April 8 that it was canceling the ships' planned visit to Australia and instead ordering them to "sail north and report on station to the Western Pacific Ocean".

The U.S. sought to assure allies Wednesday that the USS Carl Vinson naval strike group is indeed headed to the northern Pacific as a deterrent to North Korea's nuclear weapons program. That's a fact, it's happened. Reuters and other news outlets reported on April 11 that the movement would take more than a week. The U.S. media went into overdrive and Fox reported on April 14 that the armada was "steaming" toward North Korea.

North Korea staged a massive military parade on Saturday and observers widely expected the country to conduct a sixth nuclear test to coincide with celebrations marking the birthdate of regime founder Kim Il-Sung.

The Yomiuri ShimbunChina and Russian Federation have dispatched intelligence-gathering vessels from their navies to chase the USS Carl Vinson nuclear-powered aircraft carrier, which is heading toward waters near the Korean Peninsula, multiple sources of the Japanese government revealed to The Yomiuri Shimbun.

It is now confirmed that the aircraft carrier's crew will spend at least an extra month at sea.

Leicester City meanwhile, are on the verge of the unthinkable: a place in the semifinals of the Champions League . The nature of their opening goal, after only seven minutes, therefore surprised for more than one reason.

Our "very powerful" armada will make its way to the Korean Peninsula eventually, but apparently no one's in any rush.

The perceived communications mix-up discredits some of the tough rhetoric coming from the Trump administration.

The North Korean missile, which was sacked from the Sinpo area, exploded nearly immediately, according to military officials in South Korea and the US. Japan has even issued a travel advisory for South Korea and convened a National Security Council meeting to discuss plans to evacuate its some 60,000 nationals residing here.

Pence is noting in a statement alongside South Korean Acting President Hwang Kyo-ahn that President Donald Trump recently launched airstrikes in Syria.

"There is precedent going back to the 1990s and early 2000s where there are provocations timed to South Korean political events", he said.

The Vinson group includes the aircraft carrier USS Carl Vinson and its embarked air wing, the destroyers USS Wayne E. Meyer and USS Michael Murphy, and the cruiser USS Lake Champlain.
