Lawyer: United will save evidence in dragged passenger case

Lawyer: United will save evidence in dragged passenger case”

Delta is letting employees offer customers nearly $10,000 in compensation to give up seats on overbooked flights, hoping to avoid an uproar like the one that erupted at United after a passenger was dragged off a jet.

Dao said he was a doctor and had to get home to patients.

Dao's lawyer said in a news conference Thursday that the Kentucky physician and father of five will need reconstructive surgery to fix a broken nose and two knocked-out teeth.

United Airlines said a man wouldn't give up his spot on a flight.

Dr Dao has now been released from the hospital and is planning on suing United.

Under the bill, passengers could not be removed from flights unless they were presenting a danger to themselves or others, an emergency was taking place or the passenger had caused a serious disturbance.

That increased to 79 percent among those who indicated they had heard about the United incident recently, while it was about evenly split among those who hadn't.

United Airlines crew members will no longer be able to bump a passenger who is already seated in one of the airline's planes.

The company also repeated its apologies, saying Munoz had reached out to Dao "on numerous occasions". Munoz himself said on Wednesday that he had left a message for Dao.

United's board said on Friday the company had to craft policies to win back customer trust and apologized to Dao and his family.

The three officers who removed Dao have been suspended from their jobs at the Chicago Aviation Department.

"Instead, the airline flew their luggage to Louisville, Kentucky". The forceful removal led to Dao sustaining injuries and he had to be hospitalized.

The attorney was unable to say precisely how Dao was injured.

For Dao, who came to the USA after fleeing Vietnam by boat in 1975 when Saigon fell, being dragged off the plane "was more horrifying and harrowing than what he experienced in leaving Vietnam", Demetrio said.

At a City Council committee hearing Thursday, aldermen ripped officials from United and the aviation department about the episode. "It reflected badly on the airline, the City of Chicago, and the State of IL".
